Herbs and Crystals to HEAL THE KIDNEYS AND BLADDER

Crystals play an important role in keeping our organs and chakras balanced and healthy. Here are healing relationships between herbs and gemstones for the kidneys and bladder: to help relieve emotional fear, mental breakdown, depression, accidents, rape, divorce, suicidal thoughts; release anger and reduce stress and balancing sexual energies.

Herbs for the kidneys and bladder: marshmallow, uva ursi, hydrangea, fu ling and gravel root; Other herbs that strengthen the kidneys/bladder: pipsissewa, parsley and horsetail.

PIPSISSEWA    Pipsissewa possesses tonic, astringent and diuretic properties and is primarily used in the form of an infusion to treat problems of the urinary tract: urethritis (inflammation of the urethra) and cystitis (inflammation of the urinary bladder), because this plant contains a chemical compound called hydroquinones, which is known to have a remarkable disinfecting effecting in the urinary tract.  In addition, earlier herbalists also used to prescribe pipsissewa to treat more serious conditions, like kidney stones and gonorrhea (a contagious inflammation of the vagina and urethra).  Pipsissewa helps to enhance the flow of urine and, thereby, encourages the elimination of fluid waste products from the body.  In this way, the herb is also useful for treating conditoins like gout and rheumatism.  You may also apply the fresh pipsissewa leaves topically to treat rheumatic joint and muscles, sores, blisters and swellings.

HYDRANGEA                Herbal medicine of the West believes that the diuretic attribute of hydrangea is especially useful in treating gallbladder and kidney stones. In fact, it is believed that hydrangea not only promotes the expulsion of stones, but also aids in dissolving the stones that remain in the body. Hydrangea is also employed for treating several other health conditions that have an influence on the genitourinary system, counting urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis and prostate.

Hydrangea possesses solvent attributes, which are not just restricted to expelling and dissolving gallbladder and kidney stones. In effect, this herb has also been employed to assist in dissolving bone spurs or muscle calcification. In addition, this herb apparently facilitates the body to restore calcium into the solutions in the system. Hydrangea also possesses anti-inflammatory properties owing to the presence of alkaloids that have an effect similar to that of cortisone. This is highly beneficial for treating infections as well as inflammations of the kidney, in addition to easing the symptoms of arthritis.

This herb also has a blood purifying effect and has been employed to crumble or disintegrate tumors and lumps. In addition, hydrangea enhances urine production owing to its diuretic action and possesses a gentle purgative impact. This is an extremely valuable remedy for the urinary tract and assists in correcting the other disparities of the urinary system, such as headaches due to kidney problems, dropsy and chronic rheumatism. Moreover, a number of herbalists also employ hydrangea in combination with other herbs to cure enlarged and inflamed prostate.

The root of hydrangea is an herbal tonic. In effect, tonic herbs have the aptitude to enliven as well as fortify particular organs, the whole body or the entire systems. In the instance of hydrangea root, its tonic attributes are specifically useful for the organs of the urinary tract, since this herb not only fortifies these organs, but also detoxifies them whenever necessary. Hydrangea is a mild herbal medication that has intense as well as enduring influences when it is used for a prolonged period of time. As the use of hydrangea root strengthens and makes the urinary tract system healthier, consequently the whole body gains vigor and strength.

MARSHMALLOW      is the best source of easily-digested vegetable mucilage, which aids the body's mucus in lubricating the joints to protect against irritation and dryness. Used with other diuretic herbal teas, marshmallow root will relieve kidney/gravel stones (with Gravel Root to treat water retention and joint pains) and aid in their smooth expulsion. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant for the joints and gastrointestinal tract. Uva Ursi is a specific for kidney/bladder infections. Also used after birth to reduce hemorrhaging and help restore the womb to normal size (often used with Buchu Leaves). Hydrangea is a powerful cleanser of the urinary tract, and treats inflamed tissues of the urinary organs. Relieves backache from kidney trouble and chronic rheumatism. Fu Ling, one of the finest diruetics, rids the body of excess moisture and treats kidney weakness. It is nutritive and tonifying, and treats hyperactivity in children. Other herbs that strengthen the kidneys/bladder: pipsissewa, parsley and horsetail.

Crystals interact with the human energy field to heal, calm, stimulate or adjust the energies within it to bring the body back into balance, and holistically heals various body organs as it draws the celestial energy into the physical plane.

Some gemstones for the kidneys and bladder: aquamarine, bloodstone, hematite, orange calcite and amber.

AQUAMARINE     STONE OF COURAGE, CLEAR COMMUNICATION AND ILLUMINATION

Aquamarine, a stone of serenity, calms and soothes with its lovely blue/green color and evokes the calm of the water with its given name, which is interpreted as 'water of the sea' derived from Latin.  A stone that celebrates the sea goddess of ancient times, it was carried by those who traveled on sea voyages to return safe and prosperous.  A truly fascinating stone, it opens your intuition and awareness to the inner ocean of wisdom and creativity.  By the 19th Century the popular and thus preferred color for Aquamarine was a sea green, yet in modern times the more popular color is a sky blue.

Aquamarine stones are beautiful crystals that heighten courage... and aid clear communication with the Divine source of all that is.  They have strong metaphysical properties that help you to let go of old emotional issues you may be holding on to. By assisting you to release anger and reduce stress... it may help you to make positive changes in your life.  These lovely stones help to heighten your courage when you are handling grief, and are powerful to assist self healing.

BLOODSTONE    The healing properties of this stone include abundance and good fortune; alignment and smooth energy flow; generosity and idealism and purification and revitalization.

What makes bloodstone such a powerful healing stone, is its focus on revitalizing the entire system.  Intuition and creativity are heightened, but is simultaneously protective and grounding.  While your mind is calmed and revitalized, you are able to enjoy enhanced decision-making skills and its protective nature gives courage, while protecting you from danger.

Because bloodstone purifies and strengthens the blood, it is used for healing Leukemia, anemia, inflammation and infections.  It is a potent detoxifier, making it helpful in cleansing the liver, intestines, kidneys, bladder and spleen.  Since Blooodstone aids in circulation and blood flow, it stimulates the lymphatic and immune systems, while strengthening the heart.

ORANGE CALCITE    is a stone that is particularly helpful mentally.  It can relieve emotional fear, mental breakdown, depression, accidents, rape, divorce, suicidal thoughts.  It is particularly helpful with phobias. Orange calcite restores mental and emotional equilibrium.

Orange calcite can also give a gentle boost to psychic abilities and intuition.

Physically, since orange calcite is associated with the second sacral chakra, it is helpful for the reproductive system, genitals, intestines, irritable bowel syndrome, kidneys, chronic fatigue, calcium intake and assimilation.  It is also used for balancing sexual energies.  Note that healing crystal meanings are spiritual supports to healing and are not prescriptions or healthcare information.

These herbs and crystals will heal and restore balance to the kidneys and bladder, and support blood flow, circulation and detoxify; and cleanse the lower chakras and realign their energies.

Another MAJOR HERB for Men's Health: HORSETAIL

WE MUST TAKE CARE OF OUR MEN FOLK!!!

HERBS ARE NATURE'S MEDICINE . . . MEN'S HEALTH – Men, let's begin to make some SERIOUSLY SIMPLE choices. We are going to look at alternatives in our life habits and herbal remedies to improve the longevity and quality of life for our men. We will begin to look at herbs for the top five killers of men: cardiac herbs (for hypertension and stroke), urinary tonics for the prostate, pulmonary herbs for the lungs and herbs for cancer, and depression.

Horsetail ~ also known as "scouring brush"
Though difficulties with the prostate gland affect almost every American male over the age of 50 – DON'T WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN, PREVENT IT.

First of all commit to getting an annual checkup. IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE! It doesn't hurt; it's free as part of your insurance coverage; and it keeps you ahead of the game. Many years ago a brain tumor was discovered – it was only discovered because at my annual GYN checkup my blood pressure was soo high I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital, (and I never had high blood pressure before); the tumor was only discovered upon further testing to find the cause of the elevated blood pressure! Revere yourself. Get an annual checkup.

The prostate gland can become inflamed (prostatitis), enlarged (causing a sensation of fullness in the rectum) or infected, causing backache, impairment of sexual potency, frequent and/or burning/discomfort/pain upon urination, recurring flare-ups and sometimes a slight discharge or blood in the urine.

Here are some herbs that treat a variety of these symptoms: Ginseng, fenugreek, parsley, oats, pumpkin seeds, kelp, melilot, bee pollen, buchu, juniper, echinacea, golden seal, chaparral, horsetail, sarsaparilla, wild yam root, yellow dock, yarrow, mullein . . . MAKE NATURE'S MEDICINE YOUR OWN

Horsetail is an astringent herb and has a diuretic action. It has an affinity for the urinary tract where it can be used to sooth inflammation, hemorrhaging, cystic ulceration, ulcers, cystitis and to treat infections. It is considered a specific remedy in cases of inflammation or benign enlargement of the prostate gland and is also used to quicken the removal of kidney stones.
Its toning and astringent action make it of value in the treatment of incontinence and bed-wetting in children. It may be applied to such conditions as urethritis or cystitis with hematuria, reducing hemorrhage and healing wounds thanks to the high silica content. This local astringent and anti-hemorrhagic effect explains the application of horsetail to such conditions as bleeding from the mouth, nose and vagina, its use to check diarrhea, dysentery and bleeding from the bowel, and for slow-healing wounds, chilblains and conjunctivitis.
Horsetail, not to be confused with cat-tail, is possibly the most abundant source of silica in the plant kingdom, so much in fact that the herb can be used for polishing metal. It got the name “scouring rush” from this very application. The horsetail constitutes one of the most diuretic species in all the plants. That is to say that it possesses a great capacity to eliminate water from the body, in such a point to increase urination up to 30% more than what is habitual. This fact makes that its scientific name Equisetum arvense generally appears in the composition of most of products that habitually are sold to reduce weight. This property is due to the action of several components, among which it is necessary to highlight equisetonin and potassium, but there are another ones that also take part such as calcium, magnesium, ascorbic acid and caffeic acid.
As a diuretic it is particularly suited to metabolic or hormonal edema during the menopause. The diuretic action is thought to be due partly to the flavonoids and saponins. Equisetum is restorative to damaged pulmonary tissue after pulmonary tuberculosis and other lung disease, as the silicic acid is said to stabilize the scar tissue.
It may be taken internally to stop bleeding from ulcers or curb heavy menstrual bleeding. It may also be used as a gargle and mouth rinse for sore throat and bleeding gums or mouth ulcers. Externally it is a vulnerary and may also be applied as a compress to fractures and sprains, wounds, sores, skin problems and a gargle for mouth and gum inflammations.
“Horsetail is known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, coagulant, demulcent, diuretic and astringent activity. Reportedly, it has been used in the treatment of a number of health conditions which include brittle bone, hair, teeth and nails, white spots on nails, gingivitis, tonsillitis, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth, rheumatic disorders, edema, osteoarthritis, diabetes, acne, wounds, itchiness, rashes, burns, frostbite, chilblains, athlete’s foot, cracked and tired feet, drawing out pus from boils and carbuncles, ulcers, fistulas, herpes simplex, dyspepsia (impaired digestion), gastrointestinal conditions, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, fever, malaria, bladder problems, urinary tract infection, bed wetting in children, kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), prostate problems, hemorrhoids, muscle cramps, tumors, broken bones, fractures, sprains, nose bleed and other heavy bleeding. Horsetail is also known to strengthen the body’s immune system.”

From MRH: “When taking horsetail powder for its diuretic effect, be sure to drink extra water for maximum benefit. Avoid if there are kidney stones. Don’t take horsetail herb if you take an ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure and you have congestive heart failure, as the combination of the herb and the drug can cause accumulation of excessive potassium. Not recommended while pregnant. Toxicity similar to nicotine poisoning has been seen in children who ingest large amounts.”

HERBS for the PROSTATE HEALTH: Black walnut bark, buchu leaves, chaparral, echinacea, chaste berries, hawthorn berries, wild yam root, marshmallow, parsley, kelp, pumpkin seeds, horsetail, mullein, juniper berries,

Sex Symbols I : Stock Photo
The biggest problem that men have are diseases that are the result of lack of health care monitoring earlier in life. Take for example, the progression of heart disease: "If you don't get your cholesterol checked when it's going high when you're 20, and if don't get your blood pressure checked when it's going high when you're 30, maybe your blood sugar's getting a little high when you're 40, what do you think is going to happen when you're 50?"

We will begin to look at herbs for the top five killers of men: cardiac herbs (for hypertension and stroke), urinary tonics for the prostate, pulmonary herbs for the lungs and herbs for cancer, and depression.

THE PROSTATE - The prostate is a male gland located just below the bladder, in front of the rectum. It surrounds the first inch of the urethra (the tube through which urine and sperm exit the body).

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in men. It is the second leading type of cancer death in men, after lung cancer. There is not enough known about what causes prostate cancer and how to prevent it. Yet the disease is treatable if found in early stages.

This can be a challenge, since prostate cancer can show no symptoms until it has spread to other parts of the body. STAY AHEAD OF THE GAME – GET AN ANNUAL CHECK UP (+PROSTATE SCREENING).

Herbs to treat a variety of these symptoms: Ginseng, fenugreek, parsley, oats, pumpkin seeds, kelp, melilot, bee pollen, buchu leaves, juniper berries, echinacea, golden seal, chaparral, sarsaparilla, wild yam root, yellow dock, yarrow, mullein, horsetail.

If you begin to feel any of the above symptoms here are a few of my herbal tea suggestions:

Photo
Buchu Leaves
Urinary tract infection: Black walnut bark-1/4pt, buchu leaves-1pt, chaparral-1/2pt, echinacea-1/4pt, hawthorn berries-1/4pt, wild yam root-1/4pt, marshmallow-1/2pt. Men younger than 50 who have a bladder infection should see a doctor to determine the cause (since it is so rare). Men over 50 with recurring bladder infections most likely need to address their prostate health while also dealing with the acute infection.

Prostate cancer: buchu leaves-1pt, juniper berries-1/4pt, echinacea-1/2pt, golden seal-1/4pt, chaparral-1pt, kelp-1/2pt, sarsaparilla-1pt, wild yam root-1/4pt, yellow dock-1pt, yarrow-1/2pt, black walnut bark-1/2pt. Painful urination: buchu leaves-1pt, juniper berries-1/2pt, marshmallow-1pt, parsley-1/2pt, yarrow-1/2pt.

CAUTION – do not take juniper berries if you have any type of kidney disease or infection.

Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens/Sabal Serrulata) is a palm like plant with berries that were a staple food and medicine for the Native Americans of the southeastern United States. In the early 1900s men used the berries to treat urinary tract problems and even to increase sperm production and boost libido.

Saw palmetto extract is the most popular herbal treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition in older men.  Early research indicated that the extract is well-tolerated and suggested "mild to moderate improvement in urinary symptoms and flow measures."  Researches aren't sure exactly how saw palmetto works, but it contains plant-based chemicals that may be effective for BPH.  Researchers think that saw palmetto may affect the level of testosterone in the body, and perhaps reduce the amount of an enzyme that promotes the growth of prostate cells.  Saw palmetto is often combined with nettles extract to treat BPH.

The dried berries
Saw palmetto issued in several forms of traditional herbal medicine. American Indians used the fruti for food and to treat a variety of urinary and reproductive system problems.  They Mayans drank it as a tonic, and the Seminoles used the berries as an expectorant and antiseptic.

ASTRAGALUS ROOT

For the 30 years that I have traveled around the country teaching herb courses and workshops, and treating health imbalances with herbs, Chinese herbs have always made up a very large percentage of my inventory, and the success I've had with the efficacy of Chinese herbs are unmatched.

The root is often cut in long strips and thus often
referred to as 'tongue depressors.'
ASTRAGALUS (Huang Qi) ROOT is one of my favorites, as it stimulates the production and circulation of immunological factors in the blood. Its therapeutic effects are as immunitonic; cardiotonic; diuretic; controls profuse perspiration; lowers blood pressure; lowers blood sugar; improves circulation in flesh and skin.

INDICATIONS: immune deficiency; cancer; chronic fatigue; high blood pressure; prolapse of internal organs; diabetes; cold and weak limbs; colds and flu; bronchitis; hepatitis; adrenal deficiency.

Orally, Astragalus is used for upper respiratory infections; to strengthen and regulate the immune system; and to increase the production of blood cells particularly in individuals with chronic degenerative disease or in individuals with cancer under going chemotherapy or radiation therapy. [I have a very strong formula that I've had great success with when used during this period. If interested, please let me know. "theherbalist1750@gmail.com"]

I've used this herb for many years in many of my formulas. It's efficacy is dependable and thorough. I ALWAYS use it along with Don Sen - together the herbs strengthen formulas and boost the body's strength and longevity and resistance to disease in general. Astragalus is commonly used in combination with other herbs. For example, in combination with Ligustrum lucidum (glossy privet), astragalus is used orally for treating breast cancer, cervical cancer, and lung cancer.

DON SEN / Codonopsis Lanceolata

MEDICINAL PART: root

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS: stomachic; cardio tonic; builds immunity and raises resistance; lowers blood pressure; raises blood sugar

INDICATIONS: chronic fatigue, hypertension; loss of appetite; indigestion due to hyperacidity; loose bowels; pale complexion; exhaustion after surgery or childbirth; body bloating and facial swelling due to edema; immune deficiency; hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

Since this herb acts similarly to ginseng, it can be substituted for the latter when ginseng is too costly or in short supply. It is often used instead of ginseng for mild chronic conditions that do not require high-potency herbs. Recent research has also established dang shen (don sen) as an effective preventive against many forms of heart disease. Since it lends itself well to cooking, it can be used daily in the kitchen as an ingredient in stews, soups, and porridges, or simply boiled in chicken broth, as a general nutrient tonic for the whole family and a specific preventative against heart disease.

According to the traditional Chinese view, the reason that this herb is such a reliable energy tonic is because of its affinity for the spleen and lungs, which are the two major organ-energy systems responsible for the extraction of energy from food and air through digestion and respiration. Codonopsis is used to treat HIV infection and to protect cancer patients against side effects of radiation treatment. It is also used to boost the immune system; and to treat weakness, loss of appetite (anorexia), chronic diarrhea, shortness of breath, noticeable heartbeat (palpitations), asthma, cough, thirst and diabetes.

As a cooling herb, codonopsis is useful in any illness in which "spleen chi deficiency"- a deficiency of digestive energies - is the underlying cause.

Codonopsis is a relatively inexpensive herbs that is often substituted for Panax ginseng in herbal tonics. It is believed to have an action similar to that of panax ginseng, but milder. Often used by poorer Chinese patients, it is commonly referred to as "poor man's ginseng". Its relatively low cost does not diminish its place as one of the more important Chinese herbal medicines. Don sen has been used as an astringent in excessive uterine bleeding, and for rheumatic and other joint pains, and described as an aphrodisiac, general tonic and styptic. Pharmacological research has confirmed that the herb promotes digestion and metabolism, helps to strengthen the immune system, stimulates the nervous system, dilates peripheral blood vessels, and inhibits adrenal cortex activity, thereby lowering blood pressure.

The Top 10 Worst Foods if You Have Uterine Fibroids

Don't forget to subscribe (simply submit your email address above)
so you can have every Post delivered directly
to your Inbox without ever missing one.

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumor growths within the muscle of the uterus. The fibrous growths are not considered life-threatening, but they can plague women of reproductive years with symptoms of fatigue, heavier bleeding, bladder pressure, bloating and reproductive challenges. Certain foods and additives may increase the growth of uterine fibroids. Limiting these foods doesn't rid your body of the fibroids but could lessen the symptoms you experience. Speak with your physician about making dietary changes if you have fibroids.

Sugar

Sugar is the food that most practitioners say to reduce or eliminate if you have fibroids. Sugar is considered a pro-inflammatory food, because it causes your immune system to release antibodies and other hormones that stimulate your body to fight off diseases and foreign materials. Consuming sugar daily over-stimulates your immune system, and these pro-inflammatory responses stay elevated, eventually leading your body to attack itself. Sugar also promotes higher insulin levels, which can lead to lower sex-hormone-binding globulin, which helps your body by binding excess estrogen and deactivating it. The increased estrogen feeds your fibroid tumor and can lead to more severe bleeding, pain, fatigue  and other symptoms, according to authors Johanna Skilling and medical doctor Nelson Stringer in "The First Year: Fibroids."

Meat and Poultry

Many animals raised for food are given steroids to promote their muscle growth for meat. These steroids leave metabolites available to humans who consume the animal's flesh. According to Skilling and Stringer, although the Food and Drug Administration states that the levels of steroids used to treat animals produced for food is safe, the metabolites, or byproducts of steroids, can be stored in the animals' body fat. Ingesting the metabolites can lead to higher estrogen activity in your body, causing fibroids to grow. If you must eat animal products, choose organically fed and grown without hormones.

Coffee and Tea

Caffeine isn't directly related to uterine fibroid growth, but it can increase the symptoms you experience.  If fatigue is a major issue because of heavy bleeding, drinking coffee and tea will make it worse, because they both decrease the amount of iron your body can absorb. These two drinks contain tannins, which are
polyphenols that bind iron, reducing the absorption of the mineral from the foods you eat. Decaffeinated coffees and tea also contain tannins, along with red wine, and all limit iron absorption.

Milk, Yogurt and Cheese

Dairy products, such as milk yogurt and cheese, contain arachidonic acid, which is an essential fatty acid made from linoleic and linolenic acids. When your body receives too much arachidonic acid from animal products, your body releases prostaglandins, which are pro-inflammatory immune system products, according to Skilling and Stringer. Another point to consider is bovine growth hormone, used to stimulate milk production in post-partum cows. Bovine growth hormone also increases production of a substance called insulin growth factor-1, which stimulates fibroid growth, according to Skilling and Stringer.

Canned Foods

Xenoestrogens are chemical estrogens that are produced when canned food comes in contact with the petroleum-based lining of cans. Xenoestrogens act as weak estrogens in your body and can increase your circulating levels of the estrogen your body makes, according to physician and xenoestrogen expert, Elizabeth Smith, M.D. These xenoestrogens block your body from using estrogen and make it available for your uterine fibroid to grow.

Enriched Processed Foods

Enriched processed foods, such as white bread, regular pasta and white rice, contain very little fiber. Limiting your intake of enriched processed foods in favor of whole-grain breads, whole-grain pastas and brown rice can lessen any constipation and bloating you may experience with uterine fibroids, according to Skilling and Stringer. Enriched processed foods also raise insulin levels faster than foods with fiber. These higher insulin levels increase the availability of estrogen to target uterine-fibroid growth.

Herbs are Nature's Medicine: NATURE'S MEDICINE BAG 101, Pt 1

HERBS ARE NATURES MEDICINE . . . and since we are all inherent healers, we need to learn what MAIN HERBS should be in our MEDICINE BAGS that we can use as tools to maintain the health and wellness of our family. Your bag would hold many singular herbs, that when combined would generate many different formulas, as one herb used for a cold (mullein), when combined with totally different herbs, can be used as an antispasmodic for pain or combined with yet others can be used for inflammation caused by an injury. There are five basic herbs groups that should be part of every formula: your primary herb, a nutritive herb, a nervine or antispasmodic herb, antibiotic or antiseptics, and a carrier herb.

MEDICINE BAG 101 – Part One

PRIMARY HERBS address the major complaint when a person is sick, and since every sickness is different, I would suggest a few that would cover various health issues. Red raspberry, mullein, comfrey, coltsfoot, yerba santa, red clover, Oregon grape root, burdock, squaw vine, gentian. Chamomile.

NUTRITIVE HERBS help restore strength and balance because it is packed with nutritive constituents that heal the body. Slippery elm, don sen and astragalus (together), comfrey, licorice, marshmallow, Irish moss, anise seeds, fennel.

NERVINES or ANTISPASMODICS are necessary because they relax the body which makes it easier for the body to receive the herbs, nutrients and healing aspects of the herbs. Relaxing is a must in order for the body to heal. Black cohosh, lady's slipper, mullein, cramp bark, plantain, skullcap, wild yam.

ANTIBIOTIC or ANTISEPTICS kill viruses and infections. Echinacea, golden seal, yellow dock, garlic, yarrow, pleurisy root, sage, bayberry, white oak bark, walnut bark, peach pits, cranesbill, juniper berries, parsley, catnip.

CARRIER HERBS help synergize formulas. There are three basic carrier herbs: Golden Seal, cayenne and ginger. When any one of these is added to a formula, it stimulates and strengthens the combined formula and assists the other herbs in getting to the affected area and doing their jobs better.

In part two of Nature's Medicine Bag I will break down specific uses of the first three groups of herbs we discussed. There are five basic herbs groups that should be part of every formula: your primary herb, a nutritive herb, a nervine or antispasmodic herb, antibiotic or antiseptics, and a carrier herb.
